Bandra has always had a deep-rooted relationship with music, and High Note brings that story back to life in the best possible way. Founded by Shreyas Rathod, the space isn’t trying to be another themed bar or a nostalgia gimmick. Instead, it’s a heartfelt tribute to the neighbourhood’s golden era of live music, vinyl records and community gatherings.
From the moment you walk in, the ambience sets the tone. Warm lighting, vinyl records adorning the walls, retro artwork and cosy corners instantly transport you to another era without feeling dated. It’s stylish, intimate and effortlessly welcoming. More than anything, it feels like walking into someone’s house party where music is the main character.
The place was packed when we visited, and it was nice to see guests genuinely enjoying themselves and singing along, laughing and soaking in the atmosphere. While the music was slightly louder than what I personally enjoy (which meant we couldn’t stay as long as we would have liked), it’s also what gives High Note its identity. If you’re someone who loves a lively, music-first experience, you’ll feel right at home.
The food deserves just as much attention as the playlist. We started with the Fried Calamares, which were perfectly crisp and paired with a sauce that had a lovely zing, making every bite even better.
The Hot & Spicy Wings were another standout—juicy, packed with flavour and completely addictive. They were gloriously messy, but honestly, who doesn’t love getting their hands dirty over a really good plate of wings?
Our favourite of the evening, however, had to be the New York-style Hot Dog. Loaded, comforting and finished with smoky BBQ sauce, it was everything you’d hope for and easily one of the must-orders on the menu.
There were quite a few dishes we didn’t get around to trying, but they’re reason enough to plan another visit. The Adobo Smash Buff Burger, Cremini Mushroom Cafreal Kebab, Sambal Olek Prawns, Kimchi Fried Rice, Tripled Cooked Pork Sausages, and Tequila Marinated Buff Tenderloin Asado all sounded incredibly tempting.
For us, High Note is more than just another addition to Bandra’s nightlife. It’s a place that celebrates music, community and comfort food with equal sincerity. We walked in for the retro vibe but left wanting to come back, not just for the playlists, but to explore more of the food menu.
