Roswyn, an all-suites hotel, lands in Mumbai mere steps away from the international airport

A Morgans Originals hotel, a brand that is renowned for its unique lifestyle properties world-over, Roswyn offers spaces that blend work and leisure in equal measure

When Paris-based designer Daphné Desjeux was tasked to design Roswyn, the newly-opened luxury lifestyle hotel in Mumbai, she approached the project as a home shaped by the city’s character rather than its clichés. From embroidered portraits that feel like fragments of memory to ceramic plates, Bombay deco, and photographs capturing the calmer side of urban life; Desjeux has layered the space beautifully, one that reveals itself the more time you spend observing it. In fact that’s what the owners intend on offering too — longer stays in suites designed to make guests feel at home. Services such as butlers, chefs on-call in one’s kitchenette, workspaces within the suite and in the hotel, wellness and fitness offerings, and more, add to its appeal. Marking Ennismore’s first Morgans Originals hotel in India, Roswyn is designed to stand out for its unique personality, innovative design, and an inherent sense of belonging.

As soon as you enter through the revolving doors into the lobby, Roswyn creates an impression with its thoughtfully-curated collection of curios, relaxed seating, and inviting interiors, as if you’ve stepped into a well-designed living room instead of a hotel. Upstairs, hallways leading up to its 109 suites are adorned with mirrors, black-and-white photos, and art deco-inspired lighting, transporting one to a bygone Bombay era. Led by general manager Rajiv Kapoor, the hotel falls under Accor hospitality group. Says Ranju Alex, CEO Accor South Asia, “The opening of Roswyn, as part of Ennismore brands, marks an important milestone in bringing globally relevant, lifestyle-led hospitality to India. With Roswyn, we are not just introducing a new hotel, but a vibrant destination designed to integrate seamlessly into the cultural fabric of the city.” Located adjacent to Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, it creates a dual ambience that embraces the city’s fast-paced lifestyle of working lunches, quick meetings and social workspaces as well as its need to unwind in style over meals that linger and tipples in a sought-after setting. Adds Kapoor, “Mumbai doesn’t need more overt luxury. It needs places that understand how people actually want to experience the city and respond to that without getting in the way.”

Reserved for its in-house guests as well as members, The Third Room, spanning an entire floor, offers well-appointed meeting rooms that break away from the cookie-cutter norm of typical conference rooms. Merging work and downtime, the central bar zone is suited for casual networking or a quick drink. For a more elevated experience, Black Lacquer, its Japanese listening vinyl bar, creates a noir setting. The menu moves from sake, shochu, and classic highballs to house signatures. Done up in shades of black, the space is apt for high-energy evenings or quiet conversations, also featuring a private dining room inside. Fi’lia, Roswyn’s Italian restaurant, is dotted with ceramic plates on the walls and large planters lining up the path leading diners inside. The expansive space, divided into two sections, features classics such as Neapolitan-style pizzas, hand-rolled pastas, and an evolving seasonal menu.

Designed around real city life, Roswyn is imagined as a place where living, working and Mumbai’s cultural energy overlap naturally. Opines Nitan Chhatwal, managing director of Shrem Airport Hotels, “Mumbai moves quickly but people still look for places where they can slow down, meet, and spend time together. With Roswyn, we wanted to create a space that feels easy to return to, whether that’s for work, leisure, long stays, or simply a pause in the day.”

Roswyn offers suites with an approximate tariff starting around INR 35,000 per night.
