The City of Lakes is alive with this spirit, and it is perhaps best experienced at the Udaipur Marriott Hotel. Nestled against the Aravalli Hills and overlooking the serene Fateh Sagar Lake, the Udaipur Marriott Hotel is an experience. I arrived in a sleek BMW transfer from Maharana Pratap Airport, it was clear that this property had redefined luxury in Udaipur. The warm Rajasthani welcome with folk music, a refreshing drink, and a tikka to set the tone for what would be a stay steeped in elegance, comfort, and personalised care.
The hotel offers a range of rooms and suites, with 226 keys, each thoughtfully designed to balance modern amenities with local charm. My suite was expansive, flooded with natural light through floor-to-ceiling windows, and furnished with plush bedding, a comfortable living area, and a luxurious bathroom complete with a bathtub. Every detail felt purposeful, from the curated décor to the serene ambiance.

The culinary offerings are a story unto themselves. On my first afternoon, Executive Chef Mohit Mishra introduced us to the Mewar Thali at Okra, not just as a meal but as a journey into Rajasthan’s culinary heritage. The thali itself was a celebration of taste: papad paneer sabjii, gatte ki sabji, chakke ki sabji, panchmel dal, gatta pulao, garlic chutney, vinegar onions, pickle, bajra roti, and buttermilk, finished with sweet notes of mini malai ghevar and churma laddoo. The food just good enough to put me into a food coma.

Later, I headed to the outdoor terrace for high tea, indulging in mirch bharwaan, chaat, cheesecake, and nankathais as a troupe performed an enchanting Rajasthani folk dance right before the eyes.
That evening, I indulged in a seven-course Rajasthani-Italian fusion dinner that brilliantly blended oriental, continental, and regional flavours. The Lal Maas Bao burst with flavour, the Patra Lasagne reimagined an Italian classic with local ingredients, and the Chicken in Coconut Milk paired with rice was reminiscent of a Thai curry but with subtle Rajasthani undertones but these were my favourites. It was a culinary performance that demonstrated creativity without losing authenticity.

Service here is equally remarkable. Paramjot Soni, the Marketing & Communications Manager, ensured that every aspect of our stay prioritised comfort and attention to detail. Her warmth and meticulous care elevated the entire experience, making every guest feel valued and attended to.
The second day of my stay began with a guided tour of the hotel, allowing us to truly appreciate its scale, design, and attention to detail. The property itself is a visual delight. Architectural elements like jharokhas, arches, and Thikri and Shekhawati artwork seamlessly integrate with contemporary design, creating spaces that are opulent yet welcoming. Walking through the hotel, one feels a deep connection to Udaipur’s regal heritage while enjoying every modern comfort.

Lunch on the second day was a highlight. I had the traditional Dal Bati, and let me tell you, the bati was perfectly soaked in ghee, rich, comforting, and absolutely indulgent. I also requested the chef to prepare Lal Maas, which turned out to be equally delicious, the meat just off the bone. A few familiar dishes, like the Panchmel Dal from the previous day’s thali, appeared again on the menu, and I happily revisited them it was comforting to taste the same flavours executed so well, reaffirming the kitchen’s skill and attention to authenticity. Every bite reminded me that this hotel doesn’t just serve food; it celebrates the region’s culinary heritage with precision and passion.

Beyond rooms and dining, the hotel offers amenities designed for relaxation and indulgence—whether lounging by the infinity pool, rejuvenating at the spa, or enjoying panoramic views of Fateh Sagar Lake from the terrace. Every corner is curated to ensure that guests not only experience luxury but also the soul of Udaipur.
