In a rare confluence of cultures, Spanish luxury brand Lladró and renowned Indian idol sculptor Dr. Arun Yogiraj have unveiled a limited-edition masterpiece that blends centuries-old Spanish porcelain craftsmanship with the profound depth of Indian spiritual heritage.
The unveiling centers around a striking Lord Ram Lalla sculpture, designed as a tribute not only to India’s devotion but also to the power of art as a universal language. For Lladró, a brand synonymous with exquisite porcelain artistry, this marks its first collaboration with an Indian artist, underscoring the company’s intent to expand its cultural canvas.
Dr. Arun Yogiraj, celebrated for sculpting the Ram Lalla idol in Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir, brings his mastery of divine iconography to the collaboration. His ability to capture sacred nuances, expressions, posture, and spiritual aura lends the sculpture a soul that resonates deeply with Indian traditions. Lladró, meanwhile, contributes its meticulous porcelain artistry, elevating the work into a collectible that bridges continents.
This unveiling also coincides with the 25th anniversary of Lladró’s Spirit of India collection, a landmark moment that reflects the brand’s longstanding admiration for India’s cultural depth.
The collaboration comes at a time when India is playing an increasingly central role in Lladró’s global journey. Today, the country stands as Lladró’s third-largest market, contributing around 3 per cent of global sales. Within this, the Spirit of India collection alone accounts for 38–43 per cent of its Indian revenue, highlighting the demand for spiritually rooted art. Defying economic headwinds, Lladró has recorded a staggering 130 per cent organic growth in the last four years, including a 17 per cent surge in just the first half of 2025.
Iconic releases like the Lord Balaji idol (35 lakh) and Goddess Saraswati have already redefined the benchmarks for porcelain sculptures in India standing tall as both artistic triumphs and coveted collector’s investments.
But this latest collaboration represents something more profound: a shift in the luxury landscape itself. No longer confined to drawing inspiration from cultures, global brands are now engaging in authentic co-creation. As Dr. Yogiraj reflects, this partnership does more than honour Indian spirituality, it elevates India’s sculptural legacy onto the world stage, giving it the reverence and recognition it deserves.
“The Lord Ram Lalla sculpture is just the beginning of our creative journey together. The aim is to continue celebrating this cultural dialogue between India and Spain, and to offer collectors a richer, more immersive experience around this iconic creation,” adds Rosa Lladró Contreras, Chairwoman of Lladró.
More than a collaboration, the sculpture is an invitation to art collectors, devotees, and connoisseurs of culture to witness how spirituality, tradition, and luxury design can intertwine seamlessly.
