Review: House of Paloma, Bandra’s New Cocktail Bar That Feels Like a Living Gallery

House of Paloma stands apart from the city’s typical bars — it is a cultural space where cocktails unfold like stories, food carries a sense of playful artistry, and interiors echo the spirit of a Latin American gallery. Conceived by friends and founders Prathik Shetty, Chethan Hegde, and Samarth Shetty, the space draws on their shared love for agave, design, and storytelling, resulting in a destination that feels as thoughtful as it is stylish.

Designed by Sumessh Menon, the interiors immediately disarm with their drama. Crimson walls play against deep teals, creating a palette that is bold yet intimate. Handmade ceramic chandeliers cascade light in sculptural forms, while the glowing Agave Lamp, suspended overhead, anchors the room with theatrical brilliance. The playful Paloma Cats peek out across ceilings and corners, and glowing artifacts shimmer softly, drawing your eye to unexpected details. The entrance itself feels like a stage the rotating Paloma Man stands tall, part art piece, part emblem, hinting at the creative spirit that runs through the space. Art by Siddharth Kerkar stretches across the walls, bold and evocative, transforming the bar into something that exists as much for discovery as it does for conversation. It is tactile, layered, and warm, a design that never feels sterile despite its polish.

The food could have safely leaned into a single cuisine, but Paloma chooses otherwise — and it works. The Amber Sweet Crunch layers crispy sweet potato with truffle cream and green pea in a way that feels both light and indulgent. Garlic Toasts with Truffle strike with understated brilliance, while the Kodagu Tartlet arrives with a smoky, Southern warmth that lingers. The Lamb Taco is spiced and juicy, a confident hit that balances boldness with restraint. And then there’s the Savoury Cheesy Spiral, a golden, whimsical favourite that toes the line between playful indulgence and comfort. The plates feel borderless, inventive yet grounded, each one echoing the artistry of the space itself.

The cocktails carry the same thoughtfulness. The 3 AM Confession is light, floral, and refreshingly late-night friendly — the kind of drink you can sip without feeling weighed down. Their Paloma 1950 is a revelation, taking the classic Mexican cocktail and heightening it with in-house grapefruit cordial, fizz, and a Tajín rim, perhaps the best Paloma in the city. The Lima Loca demonstrates precision and detail, every garnish and note perfectly placed, reminding you that cocktails can be as much about design as taste. Beyond agave, the menu stretches confidently across spirits and moods, proving this is a bar with range, not limitation.

House of Paloma is not a high-energy drinking bar, nor does it pretend to be. It is designed for a slower rhythm, for lingering conversations, for evenings that unfold gently under the glow of chandeliers and agave lamps, for discovery in both glass and plate. In a city often chasing spectacle, Paloma pulls you in with intimacy, detail, and a creative pulse that feels rare.
