Walk into Hyderabad’s super expansive Roast CCX to savour a menu
that is inspired by the world.
It is like hugging serendipity when you walk into the 60,000 sq ft whopping
expanse cupped inside Roast CCX (Coffee & Culinary Experience) on Banjara Hills in Hyderabad. Think India’s largest pastry lab and viennoserie (12,000 sq ft heaving with fresh Korean buns, delectable macarons, and pistachio kunafa making workshops), the country’s first Loring S70 Peregrine industrial roaster (the shiny metal-major craft roasts 70 kg coffee beans in a single batch!), a suave and skilfully cocooned Chef’s Table (a battalion of seasoned culinary hands serving gourmet gospels), a private theatre (popular with celebs!), a secluded coffee gallery for hosting intimate brewing workshops (loved the French Press session), and more.

There are chuffed-up almond croissants (hot, flaky) with honey lined bellies that you can chomp into with your hot hazelnut cappuccino, after working your way through the blueberry and granola tipped yogurt bowls for breakfast. A mean coffee in the al fresco area with friends, or on a quick zip from the airport to home, or a leisurely stretch of nibbles in avocado on toast, Florentine eggs, superb salads coupled with gingery Kombucha sips pack in the energetic punch. The Chef’s Table brings in superlative spins. The Kharc bread (popularly monikered after the crisp roti in Qatar – my favourite with karak chai – lined with feta crumble) makes for a yummy mouthful. Kanchipuram button idlis come sizzling with crispy karipatta, stroked with a special brooding masala, coupled with the rassam powered by Thai herbs – for a kicky twist in the tale. On point.
Revel in the taste of the nori taco, delicately arranged in thin sheets and
flowering across your palate with the goodness of chicken, and avocado in the vegetarian version. The amuse bouche in the pani puri powered by the zingy freshness of green apples zaps in the refreshing magic in an instant. Follows the Dum ki Seekh with mince made into ghee-laced skewered rolls. What wins the day, is the secret superstar in the Bhatti ka Avocado. While the green creaminess of the fruit has long been over rated, this tandoori version of the avocado, served hot with a mini fluffy kulcha and achari asparagus win you over completely. A classic case of a winsome vegetarian format. Full marks.
A dot of fine dine, in a luxury nook; and a bustling, colossal space with darling design and delicious nooks, Roast CCX is an expansive haven where you can curl up with a good book and a mug of hot chocolate, get your family for a multigenerational outing, enjoy a spot of quiet fine dine, brew your own beans – your style, hammer away on your laptop with the fragrance of fresh bakes wafting up your nostrils, or simply hangout. Here is a café that goes way beyond the coffee.
Worth a visit. Merits an encore.
