Indian Comfort Food Gets a Contemporary Soul

Comorin finally makes its Mumbai debut—and it’s worth the wait. Known for its iconic Gurgaon location, the restaurant brings its signature approach to Indian regional cuisine: comforting, familiar dishes reimagined with thoughtful innovation.

The space itself is beautifully designed—warm lighting, curved wooden interiors, and an easy flow that invites both casual lunches and long, lingering dinners. It strikes a fine balance between being modern and homely, with spots for everything from solo work lunches to buzzing weekend catch-ups.

But let’s talk about the food—which is where Comorin truly shines. Their menu reads like a love letter to India’s culinary soul, drawing from different corners of the country and adding just the right twist.

We started with the Kathal Galawat, which melted in the mouth with bold, meaty flavours despite being vegetarian. The Fried Chicken Bun was a standout—crispy, airy, and stuffed with juicy, well-spiced chicken that hits all the right notes. The Bheja Fry with Khasta Roti brought in a strong dose of nostalgia; rich and comforting, paired with a perfectly flaky roti. The Pav Bhaji was a surprise—the bhaji was great, but it was the tiny, buttery pav that completely stole the show.

Seafood lovers should not miss the Nilgiri Masala Prawns—fragrant, herby, and just the right level of spicy. The Himachali Cha Gosht was a heartwarming dish—slow-cooked, deeply flavoured, and the kind of meal you want to eat on a rainy night. For dessert, the Malai Toast took us straight back to childhood: creamy, soft, and full of that sweet, milky goodness that’s both simple and satisfying. Comorin’s real magic lies in how it respects tradition while adding its own fresh perspective. The food feels honest. Nothing is overdone or too experimental—it’s Indian food you know, but elevated just enough to feel special.

Whether you’re grabbing lunch on a busy weekday, enjoying cocktails at the bar, or winding down over dinner with friends, Comorin fits right in with Mumbai’s rhythm. It doesn’t try to be trendy or flashy—it just focuses on serving great food, with soul.

Comorin is a warm, flavourful experience that brings India’s culinary heritage to your plate in the most delightful way.
