Review: Burma Burma at Palladium Mall: A Return Worth Celebrating

Burma Burma’s newest outpost at Gourmet Village, Palladium Mall, Lower Parel, reintroduces Mumbai to the charm of Burmese cuisine with a contemporary twist. Known for blending heritage with innovation, the restaurant’s menu and interiors create a dining experience that feels both comforting and adventurous.

We began with the Shan State Cheung Fun, delicate steamed rice sheets filled with mock meat and topped with pickled cabbage and roasted chilli oil. The textures and flavours were beautifully balanced — soft, tangy, and with just the right hint of heat. Following that came the Canteen Puff, a nostalgic yet refined snack with a spiced potato filling wrapped in crisp pastry, elevated by a tangy red chilli and vinegar dip. Both dishes were light yet flavourful, setting the tone for what was to come. The highlight of the experience was undoubtedly the Mushroom Paratha. Golden, flaky, and filled with a rich mushroom stuffing, it stood out for its depth of flavour and sheer comfort factor. Simple yet soul-satisfying, this was the dish we kept returning to — one that lingers in memory long after the meal ends.

To close, we indulged in a pistachio dessert from the restaurant’s new “Silkroute Sunday”, creamy, nutty, and elegantly presented, it struck the perfect balance between indulgence and freshness. It showcased Burma Burma’s ability to reinterpret classics through a Burmese lens, creating desserts that are playful yet rooted in tradition.

Beyond the food, Burma Burma impresses with its warm hospitality. The team was attentive, welcoming, and eager to guide us through the experience, making us feel at home in a space designed to evoke Burmese caves and craftsmanship. With its thoughtfully curated interiors and expansive Tea Bar, the restaurant is as much about culture and storytelling as it is about dining.
