Helmed by founders Niharika Gollapalli and Darshan Ramchandani, TheySee is a space built around nostalgia, storytelling, and modern Indian dining through a distinctly “desi-meets-videsi” lens. The interiors immediately stand out with dramatic Rekha posters from Silsila, retro-inspired artwork, match sticks, quirky visual installations, and a strong 80s-90s influence running through the space. The restaurant balances playful nostalgia with polished design, giving it a vibrant personality without feeling overdone.

The meal began with the Bugs Bunny Tiffin, one of the strongest dishes on the menu. Carrots cooked two ways with a smooth carrot purée and roasted carrots layered on top made for a dish that felt comforting, balanced, and thoughtfully executed. The Oh So Corny worked like a playful elevated corn chaat with good texture and flavour combinations. The Kali Miri Seekh was another standout with juicy, flavourful, and extremely well done. The Kokum Sunkissed Tuna brought an interesting spin, almost like a softer tuna with pani puri water which they called mango aguachile. The Canteen Puff Pupps had pleasant flavours overall, though the yolk overpowered the bite.

For mains, the Smokey AF Butter Chicken certainly lived up to its name with a pronounced smokiness, although it leaned sweeter than expected. The mutton biryani, however, was genuinely impressive — aromatic, flavourful, and refreshing in the sense that it did not try to imitate a classic Hyderabadi biryani, instead standing confidently in its own style.

The cocktail programme adds another layer of personality to the experience. Nazar Na Lage was easily one of the better drinks of the evening balanced, refreshing, and memorable. The LITT was strong and enjoyable, while Masala Market delivered extremely bold turmeric-forward notes that may work better for those who enjoy intense spice-driven cocktails. Akela kela personally did not stand out as much in comparison.

Desserts ended on a slightly mixed note. The Shahi Tukda-inspired dessert was unavailable during the visit, so the Jim Jam Biscuit Cheesecake really bought childhood memories and Birthday Cake were tried instead. While the flavours worked, the Birthday Cake dessert suffered from a noticeably dry sponge and could have benefited from a softer, more indulgent finish.

Overall, TheySee succeeds in creating a memorable identity for itself through strong visual storytelling, inventive menu concepts, and a distinctly playful approach to Indian dining. While a few dishes and desserts could use refinement, the restaurant’s atmosphere, standout small plates, and unique personality make it a space worth experiencing.
